| There
was a time in the corporate community when business was
conducted on a handshake and a man's name was his most
important reference. For Al Hendriks, those times
haven't changed. Old-fashioned ethics - like honour,
integrity and family values - are the philosophies on
which his company is built. |
| |
 |
| Hendriks
Construction Ltd. is a family firm, founded by Al in 1975
and operated today by a management team that includes
his three sons Perry, John and Allen, and his daughter,
Angie. "My name to me is worth everything"
Al, Sr. says. "This is a tough business, and
to defend our name is something we work hard at. Our
first priority is looking after our clients." |
| |
| When
asked about the company's greatest strength, Al doesn't
hesitate. "We deliver on our promises",
he says. "I'm from the old school. We
deliver a good product, and we're proud of it. With
our family team, we have developed a very lean and efficient
construction company. Our boys are very versatile.
They're not just site superintendents. They all
learned from scratch, and they know what's involved -
how to take a project from ground zero and work up from
there. They can do concrete foundation work, jump
on the tools to do the millwork, then go in and hang the
doors. They physically do a lot of the work, which
makes us extremely competitive." |
| |
| Hendriks'
personnel are experienced and proficient in going far
beyond their supervisory roles. They can provide
excavation, demolition, framing, finish carpentry, surveying
and concrete work - an impressive roster of expertise.
The company's portfolio runs the gamut from industrial
complexes and retail shopping centres to churches, recreational
facilities, seniors' residences and much more. That
reputation for versatility has allowed Hendriks Construction
to carve out a unique and enviable niche in the local
building market. |
| |
| If
there's one other special talent that raises Hendriks
Construction Ltd. above the rest, it's the ability to
squeeze exceptional results out of a limited budget. They
take pride in constructing churches that are as beautiful
as they are functional - and have many hallmark achievements
in Edmonton to prove it. And although the company
has worked in other parts of the country, Al and his management
team have no intention of expanding into branch offices
outside of Edmonton. "We had all kinds of opportunities
to grow," Al says, "but we plan to stay right
here. We like to maintain close-up, hands-on contact
with our projects." |
