Bissell renovates drop-in centre to give clients a better hand up Edmonton’s Bissell Centre is starting renos to its downtown facility. The upgraded space — to be finished for February — is designed to help more people connect with resources needed to build a stable life. “In 2014, we did a survey with our participants and learned that 70 per cent did not know about the support services offered beyond the drop-in centre,” Gary St. Amand, CEO of Bissell Centre, said in a Wednesday news release. “The new space will significantly improve people’s ability to access housing supports, employment opportunities, skills training, and vital programs and services.” Construction will last about 14 weeks, starting with interior renovations of the downtown west building, 10530 96 St. Bissell Centre has partnered with The Mustard Seed, 10635 96 St., during renovations to ensure the needs of clients are addressed during the winter.
